You will be on Hoes/Old New Brunswick for about 4 miles, eventually coming to a "T" intersection at Stelton Road. Make a left on to Stelton Road. Go ~.7 miles to the first traffic light (at aother "T" intersection) and make a left on to Lakeview Ave. Follow the road as it curves down and to the right. Cross the railroad tracks (the road becomes New Market Road) and the church is up one block on the left.

Move to the right lane and make a right on to E Main Street. Go up to the second traffic light and make a right onto Mountain Avenue. Congregation Knesseth Israel is up three blocks on the left.

When the road splits bear left to Route 18 north. Don't merge onto Route 18, stay to the right and take the first exit, this will be Metlars lane. At the second light make a right onto Suttons Lane. Go about 1/2 mile and make a left onto Ethel Road. At the next light (intersection with Stelton Road) Al Dente will be across Stelton on your left in a small shopping plaza, it's a little hard to spot. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside... not too shabby! (p.s. hovering waiter alert)

The Village of Waterloo is a restored historic village (circa 1740-1870) sprawling over 5,000 acres. Thousands of visitors each year tour its historic homes and watch demonstrations in the Blacksmith Shop, Grist Mill, and Pottery Barn (to name a few). Another special attraction at Waterloo is the re-created Indian Village with its faithfully reproduced huts, longhouses, and dugout canoes representing the Lenape way of life in 1625.

Going to the beach:
Take Brett Road, make a right onto Metlars. At the first light make a right onto River Road. Take River Road ~2 miles to route 287. Take route 287 south for about 10 miles and pick up the Garden State Parkway (GSP) going south. Pretty much every where you go there'll be a beach fee or parking fee of $3-$8. Below are only a few of the many beaches that comprise the Jersey shore. I've indicated the exit number from the Parkway and approximate total mileage. Count on very slow moving traffic. During the summer a 60 mile trip to the beach could take 2-3 hours at peak hours. Have fun, and don't forget the sunscreen!

Delaware Water Gap (Worthington State Foredt)

A good hike to Sun Fish Pond. A seriously steep grade with rocky terrain (hiking boots highly recommended) on the way up. High on top of the Kittatinny Ridge is a blue lake, Sunfish Pond, a relic of the Wisconsin Glacier, which reached its farthest extent about 18,000 years ago. The Appalachian Trail, which is heavily traveled in this area, passes along the eastern side of the lake. The path to the lake is wide and occasionally steep. Allow an hour and a half to go up and an hour to go down. You can hike all the way around the lake, a walk of 1.5 miles.

Road. Take River Road ~2 miles to route 287. Take route 287 north about 15 miles to route 202. Take 202 north about 1 mile to route 206. Take 206 north 16 miles to route 80. Take route 80 west about 22 miles, taking the last exit in New Jersey before the bridge across the Delaware, marked Millbrook-Flatbrook and "Delaware Water Gap Information Station." Bear north (right) on Old Mine Road for 3 miles. Park car on the left. Across the road, pick up the blue-blazed trail.

Continue to fork in road and bear left onto South Maple Ave. Just after passing Lord Stirling Park, turn left onto Lord Stirling Ave. This becomes White Bridge Road. About .5 miles after crossing the white bridge, turn left onto Pleasant Plains Road. The headquarters will be on the left.

To drive through the refuge. Take Brett Road to Metlars Lane and make a right onto Metlars. At the first light make a right on to River Road. Take River Road ~2 miles to route 287. Take 287 north (about 5 miles) to route 22 east. Route 22 east to Route 531/Watchung Ave. (about 5 miles). Take the jughandle on the right to make a left onto Watchung Ave. Follow the road about 5 miles (it will twist and turn and change names from Watchung Ave. to Hillcrest Rd. to Mountain Ave. and finally Meyersville Road. You'll need to make a left onto New Vernon Road which becomes Long Hill Road and these will take you through the refuge. Follow signs to parking and information centers.
