This workshop is jointly organized with African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) ,
South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (SACEMA) and University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
This workshop is jointly sponsored by:
First National Bank of South Africa Limited Braamfontein Branch: 251-905 Current Account no.: 62077141580 Swift: FIRNZAJJA950 * Reference - please use a depositor's reference code as the below example: "Math Model Workshop DEPOSITORSNAME" and insert your name in the DEPOSITORSNAME
We are trying to see if we can put groups together for pre- or post-conference tours, either a one day tour in the Johannesburg area or a two or three day "safari" for animal viewing, or some historical tours of interest. Here are three examples of tours that we think are of interest:
B. SOWETO Tours
Please see the Pre- and Post-Conference Tours web page for specifics of the tours.
Please return to this site occasionally if you are interested and we will post updated information. Please let Christine Spassione (firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you are interested and she will try to coordinate groups. Or, you may make your own arrangements. The university has recommended a local travel agency, Jimmy's Face to Face Tours, that specializes in such tours. We offer this recommendation second-hand, and any arrangements you make directly with them are of course just between you and them.
If reimbursement for travel is coming from the US or Canada, then air travel can only be made on US Flag Carriers, REGARDLESS OF COST. (unless no US flag carrier flies the route).(For example, travel on airlines such as United, Continental, USAir, and others that are United States based are allowable. Travel on airlines such as Lufthansa, SAS, Air Canada and other airlines based outside the US cannot be reimbursed by DIMACS.)
The second rule to keep in mind is to get original receipts for all reimbursable expenses.
