Time of Next Event
The federate must provide additional information to avoid time creep
observation: problem does not arise in sequential simulators
each federate provides time of next local event to avoid this problem
Each federate guarantees a logical time T such that if no additional TSO events are delivered to federate with TS < T, all subsequent messages that federate produces have a time stamp at least T+L (L = lookahead); typically, T is the time stamp of the next local event
- enables synchronization algorithm in RTI to immediately advance to time of the next event (e.g., via a global reduction computation)
- used in nearly all second generation conservative synchronization algorithms
