Directions to the Computer Science Department at Princeton University

From Newark Airport:

• By shuttle:

  Airporter runs from Newark or Kennedy Airport to the Nassau Inn every hour. From the Nassau Inn, walk along Nassau Street (with the University at your right) for about 4 blocks, then turn right on Olden Street. The Computer Science Building is located at the corner of William and Olden, 1 block from Nassau.

• By train:

  From New York, Penn Station, West 33rd Street

  Take any New Jersey Transit or Amtrak train going to PRINCETON JUNCTION. (Many Amtrak trains do not stop at Princeton Junction; please read the schedule carefully.) From Princeton Junction you can ride to Princeton University (3 miles) on the Dinky (Princeton to Junction or Junction to Princeton), a shuttle train that arrives at the Alexander Road Station, located on the edge of the University campus. After arriving in Princeton at the bottom of campus, you can take a five-minute taxi ride up to the main part of town or walk across the campus to the Computer Science Building (about half a mile).

• By car:

  Get onto the New Jersey Turnpike South, and follow the directions listed under ``From New York by Car.''

From New York:

• By train:

  There is a New Jersey Transit train every half hour from Pennsylvania Station in New York City. Buy a ticket to Princeton. Get off the train at Princeton Junction and catch the small shuttle train known as the Dinky. After arriving in Princeton at the bottom of campus, you can take a five-minute taxi ride up to the main part of town or walk across the campus to the Computer Science Building (about half a mile). Amtrack also serves Princeton Junction, but less frequently. Contact: NJ Transit: 1-800-772-2222

• By bus:

  There is a Suburban Transit bus every half hour from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket window on the main floor before you proceed to Gate 420 on the top floor of ther terminal to board the bus to Princeton. The bus can drop you off at Palmer Square on Nassau Street (one block above the Nassau Inn). As an alternative, you may ask to be dropped off in front of the church across from Craft Cleaners on Nassau Street. The nearest intersection to this point is Olden Street (at the traffic light). Walk down Olden Street approximately 1 block. The Computer Science Building is on the corner of William and Olden, 1 block from Nassau.

• By car:

  Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to exit 9 (New Brunswick). When you get through the toll booths, bear right (following the sign for U.S. Route 1). In about a mile, you will have to bear left (following the sign for U.S. Route 1 South) and then take the exit ramp to get onto Route 1 South. After following Route 1 South for twenty minutes, turn right onto Washington Road (also labelled as ``Princeton Business District''). At the second light (Prospect Street) turn right; then take the first left (Olden Street). The Computer Science Building is located 2 blocks down on the left at the corner of William and Olden streets.

From Philadelphia:

• By train:

  From the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, take a SEPTA train to Trenton, NJ. From there transfer to NJ Transit and take the train to Princeton Junction. In Princeton follow the directions listed under ``From New York by Train.''

• By car:

  Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to exit 28, and then go north. After 5-10 miles, follow the sign for Yardley, Pennsylvania. This will put you on I-95 North, which eventually becomes I-295 South (which really goes east). Take the exit for Route 206 North, and follow it for about 10 miles. When you see the main gates of the University at the junction of Nassau and Witherspoon streets, you will be in the heart of downtown Princeton. Cross the traffic light at Witherspoon Street as well as the next one (Washington Road) The third traffic light will be at Olden Street. Turn right at that point. The Computer Science Building will be on your right at the corner of William and Olden streets.
