Abstract:
There is a natural partial ordering on the set of all finite permutations, and enumerative combinatorialists have studied this ordering for decades. Only very recently has any work been done on the well-quasi-ordering questions raised by this ordering. I will give an overview of the work done to answer these questions, focusing on the contributions Maximillian Murphy and I have made and some of the many questions that remain unanswered.
