Title: Some stochastic properties of random overpartitions

Speaker: Pawel Hitczenko, Drexel University

Date: February 3, 2005 4:30-5:30pm

Location: Hill Center, Room 705, Rutgers University, Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ

Abstract:

In this talk, I will explain how a desire to asymptotically evaluate an alternating sum involving partition function led us to consider (and prove) a local limit theorem for the weight of overlined parts, counted with multiplicities, in random overpartitions of integers (all of these notions will be explained). The talk is based on joint work with Sylvie Corteel and Bill Goh.
