Location: Hill Center, Room 705, Rutgers University, Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ

Abstract:

Simple permutations are permutations that do not map nontrivial intervals onto intervals. I will discuss a result regarding the structure of simple permutations, and its application to the study of restricted permutations. This is joint work with Robert Brignall, Sophie Huczynska, and Nik Ruskuc.
