Title: Parallels between Involutions and General Permutations

Abstract:

We discuss different combinatorial ways in which the involutions in the symmetric group resemble the symmetric group as a whole. Of particular interest are results about pattern avoidance by involutions that parallel previously known results for pattern avoidance by general permutations.
