Abstract:

In this talk I will select an assortment of topics from my forthcoming book, "Polynomial Root-Finding and Polynomiography." Polynomiography is the art and science of visualization in the approximation of zeros of polynomials. I will pose some research problems and show some images and animations, both as art and as science and math. Also, supported by evidence from my experiences, I will argue that solving polynomial equations - through proper development of polynomiography - not only could be brought into middle and high school education, but a task that could generate interest in artists, mathematicians, scientists, educators, and even the general public. The future "vision" of polynomials may be very different from its past or present vision.
