Abstract:

Visual analytics solutions must make up for the increasing gap between the amount of data to be processed and the available cognitive workload of the user. Although human factors is inseparable from visual analytics, it is often difficult to measure the effectiveness of an application. At the Contextual Systems Laboratory, we strive to develop technologies that will alleviate the issues involved with analysis both from the data sciences side and interactive visualization side with an emphasis on human factors.

This talk will describe the role of the Contextual Systems Laboratory within the scope of Lockheed Martin and the kinds of challenges we face in developing new technologies to support end-users such as analysts, warfighters, and commanders.
