Abstract:

The problem of definite integration is one of the basic unsolved questions in Computational Algebra. There is however, a well known algorithm that deals with this problem within the class of Rational Functions and some extensions of them. This is called the Risch Algorithm. In this talk, I will discuss the case of Monomial Extensions and a heuristic method in the case of rational extensions.
