Abstract:
Recently, Cariani et al have reported a fascinating new impossibility theorem for judgment aggregation. In this talk, I will provide the background necessary to understand this new result, and I will try to explain how it is related to other, similar results in contemporary logic and philosophy of science.
Branden Fitelson is a Professor in the Philosophy Department at Rutgers University. He was formerly a Professor at Berkeley in the Philosophy, Cognitive Science and Logic Group. His main areas of interest are probability and inductive inference, logic and reasoning.
