Title: Getting the Big Picture: Visualizing Large Graphs and Clusters

Speaker: Yifan Hu, AT&T Labs

Date: Monday, October 17, 2011 11:00am - 12:00pm

Location: DIMACS Center, CoRE Bldg, Room 431, Rutgers University, Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ

Abstract:

Graphs appear naturally in many applications. With ever increasing computing power available for scientific research, and popularity of online applications such as Facebook and Twitter, the size of graphs of interest has increased exponentially. In this talk we discuss algorithms and challenges in visualizing large graphs. In addition, we look at visual representations of cluster relationships in graphs. Our examples include visualization of matrices, movies, books and music. Some of the work discussed in the talk can be found at www2.research.att.com/~yifanhu/gallery.html
