Abstract:
Predicting the diffusion of information through a community can yield insights into how quickly individuals will respond to an emergency or other events. This talk will discuss our approach for developing models of information diffusion by analyzing data about tweets sent by individuals in a social network of approximately 15,000 Twitter users. The collected data includes tweets about the death of Osama bin Laden, Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Sandy, and the 2012 presidential election.
