Abstract:

An infinite trigonometric product function pondered some years ago by reknowned experimental mathematician Benoit Cloitre is discussed. This product represents a deterministic function which fluctuates seemingly chaotically about a regular trend. A surmise of Cloitre about this trend is proved. It is also shown that Cloitre's product is the characteristic function of the distribution of the endpoints of a random walk that is associated with a random Riemann zeta function.
