Title: Identities involving Characters of Wreath Products of S_n

Speaker: Alejandro Ginory, Rutgers University

Date: Thursday, February 11, 2016 5:00pm

Location: Hill Center, Room 705, Rutgers University, Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ

Abstract:

The character tables of S_n and their wreath products G~S_n, for finite groups G, contain many fascinating sequences and identities. We discuss underlying reasons for this and, with the help of Maple, explore some of these identities. Finally, we will see connections to other interesting combinatorial objects.
