Title: Multi-Parameter Fuss-Catalan Numbers

Speaker: Sateesh R. Mane, Convergent Computing

Date: Thursday, October 20, 2016 5:00pm

Location: Hill Center, Room 705, Rutgers University, Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ

Abstract:

The Fuss-Catalan numbers are a generalization of the more well-known Catalan numbers. The Fuss-Catalan numbers will be defined, also with a short historical sketch. Pertinent recurrence relations, convolution identities, generating functions, etc will be presented. Sample applications to combinatorics, probability & statistics and complex analysis will be shown. The emphasis in this talk will be on the generality of the usefulness of Fuss-Catalan numbers.
