Hi

In our middle school, the top 7th grade students take Pre Algebra. In the 8th
grade these students move on to Algebra I and are on the fast track toward
Calculus in their Senior year.

As our student population grows larger, selection of students for this advanced
track becomes more difficult.

I would appreciate any information that you could share about how students in
your district are placed into advanced classes.

Do you use:
1. teacher recommendation
2. grades
3. achievement test
4. placement test
5. other

Also at what grade level are students in your district first tracked?

Thanks for any input.
Judy
