DIMACS is holding a 1-day conference on Saturday, January 29, 2000 as a
reunion of participants in all of its DREI Programs held from 1996 to 1999.
Registration is from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. The conference will begin at
10:30 am and end at 3:30 pm.
We will have exciting presentations by distinguished mathematical
scientists who are also great speakers. Dr. Adam Buchsbaum of AT&T Labs
will talk on the topic "Engineering the Compression of Massive Tables: An
Experimental Approach" and Dr. Peter Winkler of Bell Labs on the topic "On
Playing Golf With Two Balls". A talk on Teacher Implementation will be
given by two of the DREI Lead Teachers. We expect to add at least one
additional speaker. Come meet your friends from DREI-past and enjoy a day
of shared experiences.
We will also have presentations about the new DIMACS Connect Institute, the
successor program to DREI, which commences in summer 2000 with the theme
"research experiences for teachers." (For further information about DCI,

The DREI REUNION will take place at the DIMACS Center at Rutgers
University. Coffee and donuts, and lunch will be provided to all
participants. You are also invited to bring along one or two colleagues who
might wish to participate. No prior exposure to topics of discrete math is
required.
