Areas of interest:

Primary research interest is the mathematical theory of classification, for diverse collections of data presented as discrete objects, which include subsets, partitions, and labeled trees, for example. Applications include statistical models of clustering for various kinds of data or classification structures. Interested in the connections to other concepts of multivariate statistics (singular values, eigenvalues, correlation and contingency coefficients, variance, etc.). Also interested in discrete optimization problems and problems of extracting information which arise in these areas.
