DIMACS Workshop on Recent Advances in Mathematics and Information Sciences for Analysis and Understanding of Massive and Diverse Sources of Data

May 14 - 15, 2007
DIMACS Center, CoRE Building, Rutgers University

Organizers:
Wen Masters, Office of Naval Research, Wen_Masters@onr.navy.mil
Fred Roberts, DIMACS, froberts@dimacs.rutgers.edu
This workshop is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research.

The workshop will provide a forum to discuss recent advances in mathematics and information sciences for analyzing and understanding massive and diverse sources of unstructured data. The goal of the workshop is to chart future research directions in the science underlying the analysis, synthesis and comprehension of these diverse types of data. The workshop will be organized to address the dual roles of describing promising areas of active research as well as stimulating discussion on the most important future challenges for the field. The workshop program will include talks by leaders in the field, with ample time for discussion following each talk, as well as a "brainstorming" session each day. The outcome of the brainstorming sessions will serve as recommendations to ONR in sponsoring new research efforts.
