Perspectives and Future Directions in Systems and Control Theory

Systems and control theory has recently undergone an exceptionally rich period of progress. The main goal of this conference is to review and evaluate newly developed tools from mathematical systems and control theory, and their applications to engineering and systems biology, as well as to identify new directions of research. The workshop will include both lectures and panel discussions by leading experts, covering a wide range topics on fundamental properties of feedback and control systems, as well as recent interdisciplinary achievements and challenges to the field arising from application areas.

Eduardo D. Sontag, a professor of Mathematics at Rutgers, has been a prominent figure in mathematical control theory and systems biology research. Over the years, Eduardo has inspired numerous students, collaborators, and colleagues, through his stimulating papers, books, and vibrant lectures. The conference will help celebrate Eduardo's 60th birthday, through talks and panel discussions on recent progress, open problems, and promising research directions related to several of Eduardo's research areas.

There is a two-day Working Group meeting, immediately following the conference. The WG days will be informal, and will provide an opportunity for discussions and joint research in a relaxed environment.
