Lower Bound on Time Stamp (LBTS)
An event driven federate must merge events from other federates with local events so all events are processed in time stamp order
RTI delivers events to each federate in time stamp order (TSO)
- federate must determine whether or not it can process its next local event
- requires knowledge of the time stamp of events arriving in the future
The RTI computes a quantity called LBTS that defines a lower bound on the time stamp of events that could be delivered to the federate in the future; local events with time stamp < LBTS can be “safely” processed
