Objective
To identify a sub-set of links that best demonstrates the behavior of the network under any given link failure, minimizing the number of simulations that must be ran.
Notes:
One of the important problems in telecommunication traffic simulation
is selection of simulation scenarios and, more specifically, selection
of links for fiber cut simulations.
Currently we have several hundred major links in our network. It takes
about 3 hours to simulate one particular fiber cut. It is not feasible
to simulate fiber cuts against all these links. We proposed the method
to identify sub-set of links (critical links) we need to use for fiber
cut simulations. This method allows to save simulation time and to
identify most critical links.
