This one-day minisymposium marks the midpoint of the 5-year DIMACS Special Focus on Computational and Mathematical Epidemiology. We will use the opportunity to explore several exciting topics at the interface between mathematics/computer science on the one side and epidemiology/biology on the other side. The keynote talk, given by Don Burke, will explore a current research topic ripe for interdisciplinary collaboration. Three other speakers will explore a range of topics, with some emphasis on work that has come out of the special focus. We hope to make the program accessible to a mix of mathematicians and computer scientists, biologists, public health people, and epidemiologists and one of our goals is to find ways to enhance the mix of the two types of audiences. We will also allow time for discussion, an overview of upcoming events in the special focus, and ideas for additional future events.
