This workshop will be held immediately after, and in conjunction with, the 100th Statistical Mechanics Conference at Rutgers, December 13-16, 2008. The theme of this landmark meeting will be "Looking back, looking forward: a celebration of statistical mechanics." The special focus workshop will highlight the very strong symbiotic relationship that has developed between the two subjects.
