Network Database Evolution and Scalability

Abstract:
Network datbases (Service Control Point (SCP)) are used for number
translation, credit card validation and implementation of advanced
services. The advent of number portability (Telecom Reform Act),
internet telephony, and advanced services via the internet will cause a
significant growth in network database size and traffic.
In this talk, we will explain how network databases are currently
used, quantify the expected growth, and discuss problems associated
with building the new large scale, high performance, reliable network
databases.
