The DIMACS CONNECT INSTITUTE (DCI), based at Rutgers University, takes the approach that research and education should work hand-in-hand. Collaborations between researchers and educators are formed by understanding each others' work and needs. To this end, the institute has designed separate programs that are focused on each group's interests, along with All Institute Sessions aimed at meshing the two groups with the planned outcome of stimulating discussion and problem-solving.
The Institute offers a one-week program of research workshops, along with an educational program for high school teachers.

DIMACS, Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, was founded as an NSF Science and Technology Center and is a collaborative project of Rutgers, Princeton, AT&T Labs, Bell Labs, NEC Laboratories America and Telcordia Technologies. Affiliate Members: Avaya Labs, HP Labs, IBM Research, Microsoft Research. Funding for DIMACS comes from the National Science Foundation and the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology.
