The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics recently released its new "Principles and Standards for School Mathematics", replacing the NCTM standards published in 1989. This presentation will discuss how discrete mathematics is addressed in the new standards, and its implications for our efforts to promote discrete mathematics as a vehicle for improving mathematics education.
