I am trying to choose a textbook for Intermediate Algebra at my
community college. I am presently comparing two books, both called
Intermediate Algebra, one by Ignacio Bello (Brooks/Cole) and the other
by Larson, Hostetler, Edwards (Houghton-Mifflin). Does anyone have any
opinion about either one?

Also, my colleague here at Sullivan County Community College suddenly
quit to teach 7th grade at a local school, so my college will soon be
advertising for a tenure track position teaching Basic Arithmetic
through Calculus, starting THIS fall. Generally we teach about 5 or 6
classes a semester, and no research is required. So in that sense, it's
more like a high school job than a college job. We are located 90 miles
northwest of New York City and the college's web site is at
www.sullivan.suny.edu If anyone has questions, my email addresses are
topoll@sullivan.suny.edu and topoll@dimacs.rutgers.edu .
