DIMACS, Rutgers University
Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science are increasingly relevant to homeland security. We will discuss the uses of DM and TCS in this field, with an emphasis on bioterrorism. After a brief survey of the subject and discussion of some projects underway at DIMACS, the major part of the talk will deal with graph-theoritical models of the spread and control of disease, with a series of examples and results and models appropriate for classroom implementation and research.
