Fourth Annual K-12 Mega-Conference on Discrete Mathematics

Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey
Saturday December 8, 2001
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Program

For high school teachers who have participated in the summer institutes of the Leadership Program in Discrete Mathematics (LP), or the "crash course" in discrete mathematics

The morning workshop will be:

The Colorful World of Marriage, by Barry Tesman

This workshop will have two parts: The Colorful World of Colorings will deal with many different kinds of graph colorings, and Matching and Marriage will discuss the application of graph theory to the stability of marriages.

High-school participants who are already familiar with these topics may want instead to attend one of the three workshops offered to K-8 participants. See the Program Description for additional information.

The afternoon program will feature 30-minute presentations by participants, discussing what they have done with discrete mathematics in their classrooms.

Inspired by the success of previous years, we will once again organize a poster session for Saturday afternoon. We will set aside a room where participants can informally share and display their discrete classroom ideas, student work, lesson plans, and bulletin board ideas. Please pack some discrete classroom goodies that will brighten the walls and tables at the Mega-Conference and inspire others.

The cost of the conference is $50 (including continental breakfast and lunch). To register, please use the HS Registration Form. (Download in PDF or Word.)

The fee will be waived for those who give 30-minute presentations. Please use the Presentation Proposal Form to sign-up for a presentation. (Download in PDF or Word.)

Hotel accommodations are available at a reduced rate for those attending the Mega-Conference. You may indicate your housing needs on the Registration Form.

The registration deadline for those needing hotel accommodations is November 20th, otherwise the deadline is November 27th.

Professional development certificates will be available for participants of the Mega-Conference.
