Cookies

The more I surf the web the more I find that I don't know.

Could someone please give us a little information on "Cookies"
Several sites I looked at lately (Disney for one) will ask if they can
set a "cookie". Then they will typically give information that says who
the cookie will be sent back to and when it will expire.
