just wanted to share with you another neat aspect of our recent
followup:
i was treated to an absolutely spectacur view of comet Hale-Bopp on my
return flight. i was lucky enough to sit in first class since the DC-9 i
was riding had only 20 or so passengers and i moved up ;-). the comet
looks so clear at 30,000 feet since you're not looking through clouds,
haze, local light pollution, etc.
the appearance of Hale-Bopp really is a once in a lifetime event. please
make sure you go out and see it in the northwest sky through May of this
year.
it will be really cool to tell my son or daughter that (s)he was born
"in the year of the great comet." and if the old story is true, this
should be an excellent year for French wines, too.
