Here is a technique for organizing their thoughts for writing an essay that compares and contrasts any 2 subjects. Teacher helps students get organized by imagining the subject is Batman vs. Superman. Each pair of students draws a pair of intersecting circles. Teacher allows 5 minutes for students to jot their ideas down in the appropriate places. Teacher conducts a brief sharing of ideas and applauds the students with the longest lists. Teacher shows readiness to write a paper from these lists. Then each student draws a fresh set of intersecting circles and organizes the work for his/her essay. B.2.
