Warwick Bores #1: The Gap Year Bore "... it’s strange, but although they are only a year younger than me, they seem so immature in comparison. I suppose that’s just what India does to you. Gives you a whole new perspective on life. It’s not their fault, if you go straight from school to university then you really haven’t had a chance to see real life. There’s an Indian saying, which translates roughly as ‘When you walk about looking at your feet, you never see the sky’, which pretty much sums up what I’m saying. "I mean, you just have to listen to them - all they talk about is what A-levels they got, and what bands they like. So monotonous and repetitive! They wouldn’t last five minutes in India. It’s a whole different culture over there, and you meet some incredible people you would never find round here. I became really good friends with a guy called Malik - in fact, I spent almost my entire time with him. I’m hoping to meet up with him again sometime - he’s doing Politics in Bristol. "I reckon it’s changed my life forever. I no longer think of myself as a westerner, but a nomad, an eternal free spirit. I’ve replaced my curtains with authentic Indian yashmaks, to create that eastern vibe - hey, why don’t you come up and I’ll play you some meditation chants. Oh, hang on - it’s time for Eastenders. Another time, eh?"
