EU Crackdown on Drug Dealers The EU has launched a terrifying crackdown on drug dealers, which could have serious repurcussions for suppliers and consumers on campus. Mr Asterix DeGaulle from the EU, which is in France, explained: "Since ze start of 2000, it has been illegal to trade in ze Imperial Measures. So ve shall be after dealers who still sell in pounds and 'ounces. All of your "eighths" and "sixteenths" are illegal! We are not afraid to take action -- if necessary, we will confiscate ze scales. Zat will show dem!" He went on to explain that a conversion table into grams is available from all post offices. Campus drug users were not impressed though. "They can't take away our treasured 'teenths!" commented Stuart McFurtle, who asked not to be named. "Besides, it doesn't make sense -- I can still go the bar and order a pint of lager or LSD, so why can't I go into the cooler and get an eighth of blow?" A Union official commented that they were considering running short courses on the new weights and measures to help students adjust to the metric system. It is thought that tabs of E will not be affected, since these are sold as individual units, rather than by weight.
