Step 9 - Units Outline do unit 2

  1. Add rkrane as an administrator - ask her to login from her workstation

  2. Add your partner as a user - have the user login & out

  3. DO NOT join APCS domain or you won't be able to do your active directory. If you did join, get out of it. Just map to APCS so you can print and set up your printer - ask me to check it.

  4. Install terminal server. All of the unit items will be graded - have your partner test your work by logging in to the terminal server and then have Mrs. Krane log in to do the grading.
  5. Do each of the items listed in the last column for this week.
  • Create user accounts by using CSVDE.
  • Create user accounts by using the dsadd command.
  • Modify the properties of multiple accounts.
  • Create computer accounts by using the dsadd command.
  • Create groups by using the dsadd command.
  • Add members to a group by using the dsmod command.
  • Copy the properties from an existing account when creating a new account.
  • Find Active Directory objects.
  • Move an Active Directory object by using the drag and drop technique of management in Active Directory Users and Computers.
  • Reset computer accounts.
  • Describe the effect of resetting passwords in Windows Server 2003.
  • Determine the effective permissions on an Active Directory object.
  • Write a report on unit 2 describing everything requested. You may submit it in the report form but also print and turn it in by Friday.

Print a copy of your group policies and submit after you do unit 3.

Submit a report explaining everything done in unit 4 defining ntfs and its benefits.

After completing unit 5 write a report explaining DNS setups and its use and value.

After completing unit 6 write a report explaining the differences between remote login and terminal server. Show Mrs. Krane your desktop icon. Turn off the terminal server and have Mrs. Krane login using remote login.

Complete Unit 7 reactivating your terminal server and following all the instructions.

Remember to submit your Assessement Questions on Friday.
