| Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Server Resource Kit We have a Windows Deployment Kit at my lecturn stand. You will need these books. When you take one, please sign the check out form with the set. As there are 16 students using this set of books, please return them by the next day. The Windows Server 2003 Deployment Kit and the forthcoming Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit together provide a complete set of deployment and technical reference information for the Windows Server 2003 family of operating systems.
The Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit is not yet available. When it is released, the kit will provide in-depth operating system information and tools to help enterprises make optimal use of the Windows Server 2003 technologies. The Windows Server 2003 Deployment Kit books and the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools providing guidelines and recommended processes for designing and deploying Windows Server 2003 technologies are available at the Windows Server 2003 Deployment Kit Web page. The Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit books and tools will be available as free downloads from the Microsoft Download Center and in a browsable version on TechNet. The kit will contain the following books and tools:

Step 3: At this URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=daf69de7-dd1a-4369-b1c1-5ca32f6a6ae5&displaylang=en
you will find the Windows Server 2003 Deployment Kit Web book called: Planning, Testing, and Piloting Deployment Projects or just go to P drive and click on networking then on Planning. I have put it in the P drive networking file but you will not be able to access it once you have your server installed. You may want to download this at home for reference.
Step 4: In the Planning/deploying directory of networking, Load PDP_APP_1.doc file. You will use this file when you install your server and test it. Review the form as you can not save because you won't be able to get to our Z drive when your server is running.
Step 5: In the Planning/deploying directory of networking, you will find the whole book. Scan through the book to get the genera idea. You are only planning for yourself and your partners. All the material still applies.
Step 6: At http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/reskit/deploykit.mspx you may review each resource book. While you are waiting for downloads, CD's and installations, review each of these books.
Step 7: Surf to http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/assessment/ and take the assessment test to find out how much you know and need to learn. Be sure you copy the results to rkrane@yahoo.com.
Step 8: When you feel you are ready, install your server. You will need to add IIS as it is not installed normally. Then you must set all your polices. Install Visual Studio.NET and change your server policies to allow for degging by users. Be sure you make your instructor a user on your system so your system can be checked. Remember to partitian your hard drive when you install so you will be able to have a portion for your Exchange Server. If you are sharing a hard drive, you must partitian even further. Plan with those using your same computer during other periods.
After the install:
