- Abstract:
Theq-binomial coefficient(nk)q(or the Gaussian binomial coefficient) is a polynomial inq, whereqis a prime power. It can be described combinatorially in several ways. For example, it counts thenumber ofk-dimensional subspaces ofFnqoverFq. In this talk, we add one more bit of structurecalled a quadratic form onFnq, and discuss combinatorial structures coming from quadratic spacesover finite fields in comparison with theq-binomial coefficients.
This talk is based on work from: https://arxiv.org/abs/1910.03482.
