  • Abstract: Deep Learning has created a transformation in the field of computer vision. Real time object and scene recognition in a robust manner is enabled by modern convolutional neural nets. In this talk, we will discuss an overview of deep learning and look at applications in image recognition and beyond. Recent work in computational appearance provide high dimensional images of ordinary scenes with specialized cameras. We explore the applications of deep learning in learning and modeling appearance of real world scenes for automated image understanding.
