  • The objective of this workshop is to explore opportunities for applied mathematicians and computational scientists to develop and analyze mathematical models of food systems. Here, "food system" refers to the entire set of activities by which calories and nutrients are grown, harvested, traded, processed, transported, stored, sold, prepared and eventually become the food we consume.

  • Audiences: General Research

  • Attendance is open to any researcher interested in learning about food security and food systems and in developing tools to explore a safe and just nutritional space for humanity. Those interested in attending, must apply to participate.

     

    The workshop will meet for a full day on Saturday and one-half day on Sunday. Saturday afternoon will be set aside for a virtual session, where attendees can participate remotely. Participants are expected to be engaged in research activities during the workshop, with follow-up interactions after the workshop.

     

    Limited funds are available to support travel and lodging.

     

    Applications to Participate and for Financial Support:  The application form must be submitted online and will be reviewed as they are received. The application includes an optional section for requesting financial support. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2018, or until all slots are filled.
