NSF/DIMACS Workshop for Aspiring PIs in Secure and Trustworthy
Cyberspace
August 17, 2014
Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel
San Diego, California
- Organizer:
- Rebecca Wright, DIMACS Director, Rutgers University, satc-aspiring at dimacs.rutgers.edu
Presented under the auspices of the DIMACS Special
Focus on Cybersecurity with additional support from the National
Science Foundation under grant number CNS-1441026.
This one-day workshop is designed for researchers who aspire to
participate in NSF's Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC)
program. The workshop is by invitation or application, and is open to people with research interests in secure and trustworthy computing who are not currently funded by SaTC or any of its predecessor programs (Trustworthy Computing and/or Cyber Trust). The goal of this workshop is to help aspiring SaTC PIs understand what NSF (and NSF review panels) are looking for in reviewing SaTC proposals, with the goal of increasing the quality of submitted proposals and, in turn, the percentage of proposals funded.
The workshop will be held in San Diego, California at the same
location as the Usenix Security conference (see https://www.usenix.org/conference/usenixsecurity14/), but is not being sponsored by that conference.
The agenda for the workshop includes:
- Brief talks by NSF Program Officers (POs) on their goals for the SaTC Program, and the opportunity for participants to pose questions to the POs.
- Several research talks by current SaTC PIs.
- Discussions of SaTC scope
- A mock review panel session.
- Discussions of common mistakes made in proposals.
- One-on-one meetings with SaTC program officers.
Workshop presentations will be videotaped and made public in
order to benefit a wider audience. See also videos
from the 2012
workshop.
