DIMACS Workshop Organizer's Guide: Facilities
Meeting Rooms:
These facilities are subject to prior reservations. We suggest
contacting the
Workshop Coordinator as early as possible. Workshop approval
does not imply available space.
Rutgers:
- DIMACS Seminar Room:
The main meeting room (CORE 431) at Rutgers seats 55 comfortably and 67
at full capacity. It has white boards, two screens, and
two overhead projectors.
A slide projector or TV and VCR can be arranged.
An internet connection is anticipated in the future.
- CORE Auditorium:
The CORE first floor auditorium seating
113 is available by special arrangment.
(15 Stacking chairs may be added. That is pretty crowded - the comfortable
capacity is about 100.)
This must be reserved well in advance.
This room has white boards, a screen, and two overheads available at no
charges. A TV-VCR can be arranged.
Professional video projection
capability or microphone capability are also available at a cost of
$35.00 per hour - minimum 8 hours per day.
(In the future it may have video recording and broadcast (MBONE) capability.)

reserving it.
- Other Space:
Other meeting space may be available at Rutgers. Contact the Workshop Coordinator
to discuss needs.
We also utilize hotel meeting space; catering costs at hotels are
somewhat higher.

reservations.
Audio Visual and Computing:
Rutgers:
- Computers: the center provides a variety of X-Terminals and workstations
with workshop accounts that can be used for email and some computing.
Computer Demos can be done on various machines:
UNIX: (Sun 0S or Solaris; LINUX on a laptop);
PC running MS Windows
- Presentation Equipment:
The center has a Mitsubishi XL25U LCD projector and a portable Epson
Powerlite 730C LCD projector. Both of these projectors interface to
nearly everything.They work nicely with PCs, PC laptops and Macs.
- TV and VCR: The center has a 25" television and VHS-VCR.
They are on a cart and can be used in the seminar room, conference room or lounge but not the auditorium.
- A laptop computer is available for presentations. Media supported include DVD, CD-Rom and Zip tapes.
- Internet connections for on-line demos can be provided in both the CoRE Building auditorium and the seminar room.
