The Centers for Disease Control Preparedness Modeling Unit (PMU) invites submission of abstracts for 20-minute conference presentations that illustrate the application of modeling to plan, implement, or evaluate public health action. Modeling is increasingly being used to complement and extend other tools of public health decision making, but many policy and decision makers know little about modeling or its strengths and limitations. Preference will be given to presentations that: (1) illustrate the use of modeling to guide public health policy, program development, economic or resource allocation decisions; or (2) describe user-friendly model interfaces that permit non-modelers to use the models effectively. The perspectives of policy and decision makers, as well as those model developers and analysts, are welcomed. International modelers are encouraged to participate.
Topics: Abstracts should illustrate use of models to support assessment of risks, consequences, or mitigation, response planning, resource allocation, economic analyses, policy development, program planning, or evaluation in any domain of public health practice. Conference tracks include:
