Hi

For those who plan early a reminder...

March 14th is National Pi Day, the height of the celebration should occur at
exactly 1:59 Why? Because it will be 3.14159 - for more information visit
http://www.exploratorium.edu/learning_studio/pi/

Also March 14th is Albert Einstein's birthday.

In fact, March is the birth month for a large number of famous mathematicians.
You can see my March calendar (I plan to post it later tonight) at
http://dimacs.rutgers.edu:80/~judyann/calendar/Calendar.html

Here is the short list of names you should recognize:

Georg Cantor
Aiken (you maay have to be a computer historian to recognize the man who helped
develop the Mark I & II computers)
Einstein
Caroline Herschel
Goldbach
Steiner
Emmy Noether
PAUL ERDOS
Laplace
Descartes
Kirkman

I almost added my own name to the list, but .....
Actually two other Math teachers I work with also have birthdays in March. I
guess the stars are in the "right" position in March for Math.
So happy early birthday to any mathematician reading this message born in March.

Judy
