Hi, stranger... part of the problem with this question is the definition
of tessellation, which has the word "regulsr" built into it.
Tessellations are a subgroup of tilings, which by definition just cover
the plane w/o gaps or overlaps. an exapmple of a non-periodic tiling is
a Penrose tiling, which in its simplest form uses two different rhombi
with equal side lengths. These are rhombi are dfined by having acute
angles of 36 and 72 degrees respectively, and they tile without
tessellating. There are web sites on Penrose tiles, easily accessible
through any search engine.
