Professional Development Programs for Grade K-12 Teachers of Mathematics


Sponsored by the Rutgers Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education (CMSCE), the New Jersey Mathematics Coalition, and the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Sciences (DIMACS).


Workshops

  • Grade K-4 Workshops

    full-day workshops for Grades K-4 teachers offered at different sites throughout the year; each of the four workshops focuses on particular standards and Elementary Assessment content strands

  • Grade 5-8 Workshops

    full-day workshops for grades 5-8 teachers focusing on instructional strategies that will lead to improved student performance on GEPA

  • Grade 9-12 Workshops

    full-day workshops for high school teachers focusing on instructional strategies that will lead to improved student performance on HSPA

  • FAMILY MATH

    three-day workshop that prepares teachers to conduct six evening sessions on math for elementary school children and their parents

  • FAMILY SCIENCE

    four-day workshop that prepares teachers to conduct six evening sessions on science for elementary school children and their parents

  • Workshops for Grade 7-12 Science Teachers

    a series of one-day, hands-on science workshops, for middle and high school science teachers. Make the content come alive for your students, with new activities and techniques.

Summer Institutes

  • Institutes for New Teachers of Mathematics and Science

    two parallel week-long summer institutes -- one for new middle school and high school math teachers, and one for new middle school B C C and high school science teachers

  • Problem Solving with Discrete Mathematics workshops from the Leadership Program in Discrete Mathematics

    Summer institutes with school-year follow-up sessions for teachers

  • Discrete Mathematics in Your Region

    the institutes of the Leadership Program (see above) can be replicated in your region, as a summer institute or as a sequence of one- or two-day sessions during the school year.

  • Crash Course in Discrete Mathematics

    four-day institute for high school teachers

  • DIMACS Connect Institute

    four week education and research program for high school teachers in discrete mathematics, held in parallel with a research institute, providing opportunities to meet active mathematicians and doing research projects with researchers as mentors
