September 19, 2002 Mixer at DIMACS, Rutgers University

On September 19, we have an exciting program, featuring talks by a number of DIMACS people. The program is still in preparation, but one of the high points will be a talk by Carl Pomerance from Bell Labs. The topic of his talk will be "What's New in Primality Testing", and he will describe the new deterministic time, primality test of Agrawal, Kayal, and Saxena. A second important talk by Giovanni Di Crescenzo of Telcordia is entitled Randomness-Optimal Characterizations of Two NP Proof Systems. This talk will discuss quantitative aspects of randomness in two types of proof systems for NP.

There will also be talks by Sorin Alexe, a RUTCOR graduate student, Irit Dinur, a Post Doc from NEC, Manoj Prabhakaren and Edith Elkind - both Princeton graduate student. Full details of the program, including titles of talks and abstracts may be found at: http://dimacs.rutgers.edu/Events/2002/mix1.html

The program starts with lunch at 12:15pm in Room 401 of the CoRE Building at Rutgers. In order to plan for the luncheon, we would appreciate your letting us know in advance of your intention to come or lunch. Please RSVP to Christine Spassione (spassion@dimacs.rutgers.edu) by September 15. Those who do not RSVP are still welcome, but we would appreciate your giving us your intentions in advance. Further details will appear in a later email.
