At the risk of perhaps misusing the ListServes, I'll forward this.
Perhaps many of you have seen this type of thing before. The results seem to amaze you, but simple
algebra can demonstrate why it works.
Just FYO, the "Julia" is the wife of my oldest son, Jeff. She found this brain teaser, forwarded
it to Jeff, who forwarded it to me.
Perhaps your students might find this interesting. You might give them extra credit if they can
use simple algebra to demonstrate why this works.
